How do I set my RAM?
My girlfriend bought a used PC comes with 1 stick of 512 MB of RAM in slot 1. I do not know not the speed of the 512MB stick but the computer supports PC2700 (333 MHz) and PC2100 (266 MHz) memory. The PC has four slots for RAM and can support up to 4GB max. I bought 2 x 1GB sticks of RAM PC 2700 and put them in slots 1 and 3 to support dual channel and withdrew 512. Should I add the stick of 512 MB of RAM, even if it turns to the slower PC2100 and if so, how should I have set the ram in this slot The PC is a ThinkCentre M50 8187-E1U http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?subcategoryind=0&familyind=121123&brandind=11&doccategoryind=0&modelind=121627&doctypeind=3&validate = True & partnumberind = 0 & sitestyle = lenovo & template = 2Fproductpage%% 2Flandingpages% 2FproductPageLandingPage.vm & operatingsystemind = 121210 & machineind = 121215 Thanks for your help
Stick with the 2 GB DDR SDRAM 333MegaHertz! In response, the PC2100 will go Down Your PC2700 at a rate of 266MHz. 2GB is all you need, and with the processor of the M50 was it nicely. http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/lenovo-thinkcentre-m50-8187/4507-3118_7-30413569.html?tag=mncol; psum (Indeed, it is running Windows XP, and it will be the 32-bit. An operating system 32-bit will only recognize 3.2GB 's Go to 3.5 's. The processor of the M50 will make a good use of 2GB anyway. Over more than 2 GB is overrated. Simply look at how RAM works to understand. If the processor will not handle it, you lose your money)
